What is Forestry Mulching?

Forestry mulching is a land-clearing method that utilizes specialized machinery to grind trees, brush, and vegetation into mulch. This process involves a mulching machine equipped with a rotary drum or cutting head that spins at a high speed, essentially pulverizing trees and vegetation into small pieces. The mulch produced provides organic matter to the soil, retains moisture, and reduces erosion.

Forestry mulching offers several advantages over traditional land-clearing methods like bulldozing. For example, selecting trees to keep or mulch is easier and you will not be left with large piles to burn afterward. Additionally, forestry mulching leaves behind a layer of mulch that helps retain moisture in the soil, promotes soil health and reduces the growth of invasive plants. In fact, grass seed can be sown directly on top of the mulched area and germinates quickly.

This method is commonly used in land development, right-of-way clearing, wildfire mitigation, and habitat restoration projects. It's efficient and can significantly reduce the time and cost associated with land-clearing operations. It's also perfect for smaller areas and lots that need clearing.
